Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, known for its nationalistic spirit since its inception,
was the first college in Jalandhar to introduce N.C.C. and empower its students
through it. It has a sub- unit of 55 girl cadets, who are trained and empowered
through it every year. Many of the cadets have won prizes in various fields like
drill, firing and cultural presentation.
|
-
The object of N.C.C. is to offer opportunities to the educated young girls to be
equal to their male counterparts in the military training too.
-
N.C.C. inculcates in them a strong sense of responsibility, a spirit of
comradeship and the sterling quality of discipline.
-
The N.C.C. cadets receive certificates at the end of their course which goad
them even further towards their goal.
-
They can use their valuable experience and exposure while looking for jobs in
the Indian Army. By empowering girls, N.C.C. empowers the nation, spreads the
message of secularism and national integration. This helps to make the nation
stronger.
-
Recently in this session cadet Sujata Kumari won the Ist
prize in firing in the M.H. attachment camp
organized at
Amritsar from 28th July to 11 August 2008.

N.S.S. (National Service Scheme)
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has a strong sense of commitment, not only for the
students, but towards the society at large. Thus it has, not surprisingly, a
wing of N.S.S.(National Service Scheme) as well. The object of N.S.S. is to bring about an
all-round personality development where students imbibe the qualities like
self-discipline and mutual understanding, while rendering selfless service to
the community and creating a sense of awareness among villages. |
 |
Students are instrumental in co-orientating/interacting with the people of the nearby villages and
bringing perceptible changes in the community life. They actively participate in
comprehensive programmes like emergency relief, institutional work, campus
projects and literacy campaigns. These campaigns organized by the N.S.S. are
carried off on the young shoulders of the students with great success. The
students get a first-hand account of their country through such invigorating
programmes. Their active participation helps in creating a confident and cautious
India.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide opportunities to young students to become more
responsible citizens.
- To develop social awareness to facilitate and ensure the creation
of a confident and cautious
India.
- To enrich their experience and prepare them for better life by
involving them in programmes of social reconstruction.
