7-Day NSS Camp at Village Hazara

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya,Jalandhar with an illustrious history of 125 years of dedicated service to the cause of Women Empowerment through Higher Education inaugurated a camp under National Service Scheme at Village Hazara, Distt. Jalandhar which is scheduled from 19-12-11 to 25-12-11. The camp was formally inaugurated by Principal, KMV, Dr. (Mrs.) Atima Sharma and the village sarpanch Smt. Balbir Kaur and Head-Mistress Ms. Manjinder Kaur of Govt. Primary School. At the camp venue a large number of village women were in attendance. The N.S.S. unit will undertake projects ofschool campus beautification and tree plantation at a large scale. The village women will be imparted intensivetraining in Fashion Designing & Cosmetology. A medical camp will also be organized duringwhich the village women will be given lecturers related to healthy diet forgirls and women. Free medicine will also be distributed during the medical camp. The medical camp will be supervised by Women Studies Centre, KMV. Tree Plantation marked this occasion.

5 Day Winter Camp INSPIRE for Science Students

Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), the first-of-its-kind, a 5-day residential winter camp for science students is being organized by Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar from Dec. 6 to Dec. 10, 2011 sponsored by DST, INSPIRE Internship Programme aims to attract talented youth to pursue natural science streams at an early age and to strengthen National Science and Technology base in India. The President of Arya Shiksha Mandal Sh. Chander Mohan ji and the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Atima Sharma extending floral felicitations, welcomed the distinguished Academy fellows, eminent University Professors from various parts of India. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Khandpur, Director of Pushpa Gujral Science City, stressed that Science streams open up vast vistas for students to be globally recognized. He quoted extensively from the world of Science and enumerated various advantages of this stream, sadly, taking a backseat, has the potential to be the panacea of many evils in the society. The Presidential remarks were delivered by Dr. Lakhwant Singh, Head, Dept. of Phsycis GNDU who remarked that vision 2020 calls for well-designed infrastructure for human resource development.
